A Ray of Hope: Eight Rare Dolphins Born in Cambodian Waters

Cambodia's conservation efforts are bearing fruit, with the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry, and Fisheries reporting a glimmer of hope: eight newborn Mekong River Irrawaddy dolphins have been spotted this year, the latest calf being only two days old. These births are a positive sign for the critically endangered species, whose presence enriches the 180-km stretch of the Mekong River they inhabit. With the dolphin population estimated at about 90, these new members are a beacon of progress in the conservation of one of nature's most charming creatures​​1 .
