In Japan's Tateyama Bay, a unique underwater friendship has blossomed over nearly 30 years between local diver Hiroyuki Arakawa and a fish named Yoriko. Their camaraderie kicked off when Arakawa, overseeing an underwater temple construction, found Yoriko on death's doorstep. He dutifully hand-fed her until recovery, forging a bond that's become a highlight of his diving adventures. New Plant-Covered Sea Sponge Species Unveiled

A recent expedition by scientists in the South Pacific's sandy reefs unearthed a "massive" surprise. Amongst the undersea flora, they stumbled upon a new species of sea sponge, dubbed Quinn’s horny sponge. This peculiar find wasn’t just a lone ranger; it came with a posse, revealing six other fresh sponge faces to science. Cloaked in a green moss-like layer and a skeleton adorned with marine critters, Quinn's sponge wasn't shy about its distinct style.
