Boot Düsseldorf 2024

Boot Düsseldorf 2024: A Splashy Return! 🛥️ Dive into the world's premier yachts and water sports event, Boot Düsseldorf 2024, as it sets course for a record-breaking outcome. Scheduled from January 20th-28th, the event is amping up to eclipse its pre-pandemic achievements. Wolfram Diener, the bigwig at Messe Düsseldorf, hints at a comeback of big brands that took a hiatus last year. And it's not all about the boats; diving aficionados can get their flippers wet in a dedicated hall with industry big names. Thinking of a deep dive? There's a newbie pool for that. And for the diving community loyalists: a shiny new Dive Award, with a cool EUR 3,000 prize in multiple categories, awaits.

Underwater Dentist: Cleaner Fish Swimming Inside a Diver’s Mouth

The Ocean's Tooth Fairy? 🐠🦷 Surfing the internet waves, we stumbled upon an underwater dental phenomenon that's breaking the surface on social media. Meet the bluestreak cleaner wrasse, nature's 'dentist' that typically nibbles away at dead skin, parasites, and bacteria from aquatic biggies like whales and turtles. But this little fish didn't stop there; it swam straight into a diver's mouth, mistaking him for its usual clientele! Twitter was abuzz with this quirky encounter, with one user joking that it might be a cheaper dental appointment, even with the added scuba expenses. Who needs fluoride when you've got fishy friends?

Orca Collides With a Dolphin in Midair

Miguel Cuevas, captain and guide in Cabo Pulmo National Park captured this incredible video of an Orca and Dolphin colliding in midair. 🐳💥🐬

IANTD UK Licensee Team Steps Back, Signals New Dive Direction

In a notable shake-up within the UK diving community, the IANTD UK licensee—comprising Martin, Amy, Phil, and Tim—has made the mutual decision to step back from their roles. Citing a combination of post-COVID challenges, a dwindling number of IANTD instructors due to retirements, and industry-wide issues like the escalating costs of helium, they've identified the need for new energy and vision to revitalize the organization. Despite these challenges, it's not all somber news. The team expressed gratitude for the chance to rescue IANTD from its precarious state back in 2010, transforming it from a disorganized body plagued with dubious accounting and other irregularities to a reputable training provider. As they bow out, they remain hopeful that a successor will emerge, equipped with the passion and determination to steer IANTD UK into its next chapter.
